Thirty years ago today Sandra Day O’Connor was nominated to be a Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court.  O’Connor took her historic place in September 1981 as the first woman on the bench.

According to Anders, the astronauts saw the horizon vertically—not horizontally—with the lunar surface to the right. (National Archives)
